Dinajpur Govt College is the historical educational institution of northern part of Bangladesh. Once that part of Bangladesh was not considered as the educational, cultural and business area. So, it needs such kind of institution which can develop that area of Bangladesh. According to the history, the college was established at 1942. But the college was not run with the name of govt college. It was working at a high school named Moharaja Girijanath High School.
Finally, on 15th July, 1968 the college got its present name Dinajpur Govt College. And from that time it proves that it is one of the best colleges in Bangladesh.
