University Bangladesh protests the recent report of UGC published in
several Daily Newspapers on the 12 illegal private universities of the
country.
A news has been published recently in several new dailies quoting the University Grants Commission (UGC). The news mentioned that the UGC is warned about to be admitted in 48 campuses of 12 private universities.
The news mentioned at one point that the Female Campus of International Islamic University Chittagong (IIUC) in Bohoddarhat is illegal. Previously we submitted the details to the UGC about our Female Campus in Bohoddarhat after few newspapers published the same thing. This is not reasonable to call the Female Campus of Bohoddarhat illegal, rather than it is the Female Academic Building of IIUC.
At the first time IIUC arranges the academic activities for female
students besides the approved campus at 154/A, College Road, Chittagong.
A separate academic building and a hostel was constructed for the
female students when the construction works of permanent campus begins
at Kumari. But the guardians and female students then opposed so hardly
to not to transfer the girls there. As a result we have forced to build
an academic building for the female students in the city corporation
area of Chittagong. More than three thousands of female students are
currently studying here. It is a normal process. IIUC is not having any
other campuses for female students.
In a press release, the Southern University Bangladesh claimed that the three illegal campuses are being operated illegally at (a) MM Ali Road, Dampara, Chittagong, (b) 748, OR Nizam Road, GEC, Chittagong, (c) House-23, Lane-1, Road-1, Block-L, Halishahar, Chittagong by using the name and logo of Southern University Bangladesh.
Those branches or units are not approved by the government and UGC. The government has ordered the Chittagong division police to shut those branch campuses.
However, there is no branch campus in the country owned by the Southern University Bangladesh.
