Education Minister Mr. Nurul Islam Nahid pointed out that there
are 26 lakh students are studying currently under 34 public universities of
Bangladesh.
Six More New Public Universities will be Started Soon, Mr. Nahid
On June 12, 2014 he also noted that six public universities will be established soon. The minister urged the teachers and students to conduct new researches.
At the inaugural ceremony of a female dormitory, Sheikh Hasina Hall, on Jahangirnagar University (JU) campus, Nahid also said some private universities, instead of fulfilling all the criteria of the act, managed a stay on a government move against them and started operating again.
The Minister, Nurul Islam Nahid, warned that stern actions will be taken against the private universities which are not following the Private University Act-2010 properly and are only acting as certificate selling agencies.
This is the 13th dormitory of the university and three more are under construction. JU Vice-Chancellor Professor Farzana Islam, Education Secretary Dr. Muhammad Sadique, Pro-VC Professor Abul Hossain, and JU Teachers Association's President Professor Farid Ahmed spoke among others.
